How can we move the mindset of our students from "I have to go to history class." to "I get to go to history class?" There's so much to love about history, but it is not always crystal clear to our students. Using the inquiry model, we can tap into student interests to engage them and help them understand the relevancy of what they are learning. This can be done without sacrificing what we need to teach as history teachers, including understanding content, responding to essential questions, and practicing historical thinking skills.
