    I agree, Hajra!  I think that when I introduce these skills I use non-history type discussions, but I tend to not use them again throughout my course.  I think it would be helpful for students to bring those conversations back throughout the school year.

    I agree as well. Absolutely vital to give students a chance to learn the art of discussion at a low stake level.  I have always started my classes with a "what's new in the world" with the understanding that stories shared had to have reliable sources and be important in some way.  This ends the shooting stories that dominate the news and we have some real great discussions that get real interesting when the students start asking each other to support their ideas.  #OERScavengerhunt
