A Shared History of Many Stories: Learning History Through Multiple Perspectives in the Elementary Classroom

In this track talk, Amy Dolezal explores various ways elementary teachers can use the community around them to help students explore history and investigate the multiple perspectives that are often overlooked in textbooks. By using an inquiry-based model, teachers can assess students’ historical thinking and introduce students to untold stories from our local communities.

Amy am a 3rd Teacher in Northwest Nebraska, a short distance from the South Dakota border and the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation where her family farms/ranches. She has been teaching for 17 years and has worked with students from Kkindergarten through 3rd Grade.
