Origin of Human Rights: Ideas That Shape Our Freedom

May 20 from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. ET / 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. PT

How do we reconcile our beliefs about human rights with the reality of an unequal world? Samuel Moyn will narrate the history of human rights, from its origins in Greek, Jewish, and Christian practices to modern legal rights. He will pose the question, "What's next for human rights?" and share ideas from the field about Human Rights 2.0. Educators will gain insights into the ethical, philosophical, and legal reasoning we can apply to discussions of human rights, and Dr. Moyn will help us to make classroom connections.
