AI and the Future

I know author Yuval Noah Harari is a favorite here in the BHP community. So, I thought I'd share this recent interview he dd with Stephen Cobert.  His book, Sapiens, comes up a bit but they get into a pretty interesting conversation on AI and its potential in the future.  Really cool comparison to what the future meant to people in the past and what the future means to us now.  If you're into this stuff, it's certainly worth the time to watch.

A.I. Is Not a 21st-Century Enlightenment -- an interesting article comparing A.I. to the Enlightenment. Any thoughts?

John Vidoli this is an interesting article written by a historian. The idea I found most valuable is the contrast between the imaginative interactions a reader can establish with the author of a book "...following the book’s lead, attempting to answer the book’s questions, responding to the book’s challenges ..." and the interactions we develop with A.I. where we direct the inquiry and the conversation to sometimes reinforce our believes. As the author states, A.I. produces a flattering answer and has never challenged his moral convictions or demanded to justify himself. Perhaps A.I. evolves into a challenging tool to help us develop our critical thinking capacity.
