India's Partition????

McCalla Hill
McCalla Hill over 1 year ago

Hi all!
I am headed into era 7 of the big history project. I was already planning to look at the ways that WW2 impacted many of the British colonies, specifically looking at the creation of Israel and the partition of India. I see a resource regarding Israel, but is there nothing in ERA 7 about India's partition??

thx

There have been some solid resources shared here. I don't know that I have anything to add other than the fact that your post brough up a fond memory. Yearssssss ago when I taught 4th grade, we would read the young reader's edition of Three Cups of Tea (this was before all of the disappointing and controversial news about Greg Mortenson came out). As part of this, we would cover geography, do an introduction to Islamic religion, and discuss the Kashmir region. One of the activities we had students do was attempt to write a treaty regarding the Kashmir region. I have such positive memories of that whole reading unit because it was interdisciplinary and engaging for students.

I like the treaty-writing idea!  That would definitely still engage high-schoolers.
