Hi Tammy Dalling and thanks for your question. Big History is indeed adaptable for 5-6th grade. The newly revised Big History course was designed for grades 6-9. Each article in the course has 4 different Lexile levels that you can choose from (choose from the dropdown menu in the upper-left corner of each article page) and each article has an audio version (click on the speaker icon in the upper-right corner of each article page). The activities are engaging for younger learners while also teaching them historical thinking and inquiry skills. You can find the course guide, outline, and other helpful guides either on the Teaching Guides page under the "For Teachers" tab on our site or by going to the Big History Course Homepage and clicking on the "Teaching Tools" button. Please let us know if you have any other questions about the course.
