How has your community been impacted by climate change?

It’s so important for people to connect with anything they are learning so they understand why it's relevant to their lives. What are some ways you help students to see the consequences of climate change in your local communities?

Anne Koschmider , your stories are breaking my heart, but at the same time I love the observations and reflections you are making. They are very concrete and specific, as well as relevant to the lives of every-day people doing every-day things. These are great examples that should be extremely accessible during discussions with students and other adults.

It's like politics. Too often, my students aren't really sure with what they are talking about politically but at least they're interested.

Our valedictorian last year pointed out that they started the school year with catastrophic flooding and ended it with a wildfire. It's a lot for the adolescent brain to reconcile. I think the lessons on optimism are more important now than ever.

Andrea and I have a colleague that is going to a seminar at the American Museum of Natural History in NYC that focuses on Climate Hope. I hope to share some of what he shares with me. Stay up!

It feels like just yesterday. I will never forget jumping in the truck with my dad to go help my uncle tear his house down to studs in LBI. We had to get ID'd by troopers on route 72 before we got to his house. The looting had been so bad. It was the most dystopian experience of my life.

Mike Skomba Thanks for the mention of the AMNS in NYC!  Their Earth Day 2023 video is really good and used the Net Zero term that the OER Curriculum uses!
