Jane Goodall, and Other inspirations

Angela Lee

I'm sure that many have heard of the passing of Jane Goodall. I was thinking as I was reflecting on her life work about other role models that we can point students to about the care of the natural world similar to how Jane Goodall has devoted her entire life to this endeavor.

Molly Sinnott I was also wondering if we could put a request in for a graphic biography of this remarkable scientist for the future? Is there a pipeline for such a thing?

"I do have reasons for hope: our clever brains, the resilience of nature, the indomitable human spirit, and above all, the commitment of young people when they're empowered to take action." -Jane

I love sharing this quote with my students!

And Angela, I love the idea of the graphic biography - how wonderful that it is already on the short list. I may be spending a moment of my fall break creating a JG lesson to better share her significance with my students. In Biology we are finishing ecology and moving into evolution - so hey!

If anyone comes across or has taught some strong Jane Goodall activities/lessons -worth integrating into our OER courses - please share
