Back to School Night: What are your plans?

With the new school year fast approaching, I am curious how everyone is preparing for Back to School Night. Are you planning something new or are you sticking with tradition? How do you make the evening engaging for parents? Do you include short video clips in your presentation? I am searching for a brief one that encapsulates the essence of Big History. I would love to hear your thoughts.

  • Something I did for the first time last year that was a hit is to display the BHP Thresholds next to a large chart paper. I have felt tip pens and post-it notes out with the direction to draw a piece of post-it art to add to the chart paper next to the threshold sign. It's an engaging activity for caretakers, guardians, parents, and students, who also attend. Here are a couple of images!

    This is awesome  ! Our back to school night is on zoom this year- but I am even thinking that this could be a great Unit 0 or Unit 1 intro to BHP/thresholds activity! Get to dig into some creativity early on too! 

    Thinking I might do something like this next week accompanied with some quotes. Gallery walk style.
