What Do You Know, What Do You Ask/ Homeschool

Greetings everyone, I'm brand new to this community and am looking for ideas for additional events that work well with the What Do You Know, What Do You Ask activity.  I'll be teaching a group of middle school homeschool students this coming schoolyear, and I am thinking that since I'll have the kids only once a week, it might be beneficial and good for discussion to do semi-regular WDYK, WDYA activities to continue reinforcing the idea of the disciplines all year long.

Also, if there are any other homeschoolers out there, I'd welcome any tips on using BHP or other OER programs in the homeschool setting.  Thank you!

Tamara

    Hi, Tamara Tenney !

I'm so sorry I didn't see your post sooner!

I am not a home school teacher, but I LOVE to lurk in professional settings where homeschoolers plan and discuss. So much rich, individualized stuff going on!

I teach in an ALE setter (Alternative Learning Environment). I get to work one-on-one with each of my students throughout the day. Each day I have a different set of students I meet with, so that I see each of my peeps at least once each week. It shares some common features with Home Schooling.

With that said, I developed a WDYK/WDYA project around water use in the Colorado River basin.

It’s about serious drought conditions reducing the volume of the Colorado River and how that affects the livelihood of several US states, multiple Tribes, and billions of crops. Feel free to remix and adapt as needed!

CNN video clip to explain the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmeWydWm2MU

Who Knows What? worksheet I designed: https://docs.google.com/document/d/17X4cmC6IxHEBIbT4lHLMy_k8C69lPZ02Gk7ZG4MPmhc/edit
