Hi Jessica Lindenmeier  , using the OER PIECES chart and a little help from AI I came up with this more detailed PIECES chart for my pre-AP and AP World students next year. I hope it's helpful for you too. I also plan to use the AI image generator to create some images to represent each theme, so that my students can have some visual associations.

Tyrone Shaw love the PIECES chart, and totally stealing it.  I especially like the examples that you gave.  I might even copy it on cardstock for them to reference all year long

The guiding questions and examples are really cool for this! I have been experimenting with AI and having it write fictional stories with themes in it. Then thinking of students having to find them within the story? I am working on it now, but something like this to help guide them seems helpful. 

I did the same Jessica Lindenmeier . I had chat GPT write a short encyclopaedia style article on Washington, D.C. focusing on the PIECES categories. Then I had it turn it into a short story. I will be using it with my ninth graders.

 Tyrone Shaw That is awesome! I am experimenting with it with my Economics students this year, so I thought maybe I would try it for a beginning-of-the-year activity as well. I like the idea of having students generate their own stories and then share them with a partner as they determine the themes in pairs. I think that is where I am going. Glad to see it works!
