I always try to give my students a bit of a break right before Thanksgiving break. I know that students can be distracted with a long weekend hours away but I also want to make sure they are learning something. The activity asks students to take what they have learned about the Agricultural Revolution and the development of civilizations with Thanksgiving dinner. I start with the Crash Course video where John Green does a nice job breaking down how these events lead to the cheeseburger, then students do something similar. There are some reflection questions for students to complete when they're done with the first part. If you're outside the US, maybe there is another holiday that you could modify this activity for. I also encourage students to include unique cultural dishes they might have at their own Thanksgiving. Thought I'd share this one with just a few days before the holiday. Always curious what others do during this short week and if they connect content/skills with the holiday.
