Cold War and Decolonization // April 2024

Kathy Hays
Kathy Hays over 1 year ago

The global conflict known as the Cold War sparked full-scale wars, espionage, space races, revolts, and the threat of nuclear holocaust between 1945 and 1991. It reshaped global power and pushed the world to the brink of destruction. Whether you teach BHP, WHP or WHP AP, you will find resources for teaching the Cold War in the course materials.

Check out the three new lessons created by the OER Project, as well as new blogs and links to some of the favorite course assets to teach the Cold War!

These lessons are great and I supplement with videos from RetroReport. They don't have a lot for World History until the 20th century, but they have plenty to chose from for the Cold War!

Thanks for sharing this resource, Janet! I’ve never heard of it prior to this! They seem to have a lot of great activities and resources! One of my favorite things about teaching the Cold War is that we have SO many eye witness and primary footage to share. Even news segments! I like showing the news coverage of the Berlin Wall coming down- students are always really intrigued!
