Laura Massa , this feels like a one-pager/infographic project with some comparison to me. You could have students work independently or with partners/small groups to create one-pagers showcasing the who, what, where, when, why, and how of the celebration and then, once they're created, students could explore the different one-pagers and come up with similarities and differences.

In World History, we use the frames (communities, networks, and production and distribution) to organize information so I would tie in the community aspects to link into the ancient societies--like what is a community? why do communities celebrate holidays or practice rituals/ceremonies? etc.

 Erin Cunningham you bring such creativity into the classroom! Your ideas always inspire students to engage with purpose, and I truly appreciate your thoughtful pedagogical suggestions. Establishing comparisons is such an important skill, and I think my students will really enjoy this approach. Thanks for sharing!
