In World History, I teach an African history unit in the fall, and I include people and groups of African heritage in other lessons throughout the year. I don't focus on famous Black Americans, (they have 2 years of American history in my state), which is sometimes challenged by parents. My Black students crave positive stories that reflect their heritage and are deeply saddened and discouraged by the accounts of victimization of Black people through a great deal of World History. I would really love if OER had a set of graphic bios, primary sources, or CCOT materials focused on the achievements and contributions of Black heroes of WORLD History, by period. Any chance of creating that? Any other suggestions out there?
