Shift to PBL for AP World: Modern?

Angela Lee

The AP program has been rolling out Project Based Learning models.  Has anyone adopted the PBL approach for the AP World program?  If so, how has that changed your practice? How has that changed your daily routine?

(Like the Franken-Empire one inspired by OER Project)

Angela Lee I was intrigued by the College Board's rollout of PBL for AP World. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend their summer training session. I was hoping they might share some of the resources, but no luck so far.

I'm curious, which unit do you do the empire autopsy in? For me that's a Unit 3 activity. We also just reached a verdict in the Trial of Genghis Khan, which was a lot of fun!

They are keeping a tight lid on it as they rolled it out fully this year.  I have always incorporated major term projects into the course, but I think this is deeper shift in mindset and approach.

I do the Franken-Empire autopsy in Unit 3 as well.  Our first project,  we did a Museum Project to cover the major regional areas from Unit 1.
