How do you address geography in your history classes? At my school, the students do not have a geography class, so they come to my World History class with little to zero knowledge of the world's geography. For example, I spent a lot of time dispelling the idea that Africa is a country. My solution to this is that for every unit, my students will have a map quiz when they take the unit test. I give them the places they are responsible for learning where they are for the unit, and I have a map game they can play on their Chromebooks for each unit as a way to learn the locations of the places. So how do you teach geography in your classes, or do your students come to you knowing that Australia and Austria are not the same places and King Louis XVI was trying to make Austria, not Australia, during the French Revolution?

    I love this picture Amber Llewellyn ! I do a lot of geography quizzes and I often walk around the room showing different countries on my globe. In AP World, I do a quiz for each time period.

    Amber Llewellyn , I print blank maps for each unit, and have students fill them in as we learn because many of them have no background in Geo. It's a good context review for them too, as they can fill in surrounding things they've learned as they go.  Lots of free blank map indexes online.

    I find lots of opportunities for map work in the second half of the Origins Course.  I like to use the map activities that OER provides and whilw it tooke me a while to get brave enough to do it, the trade activity with the yarn is a good way to get the students thinking about where things are in the world.

    I hear your concern Amber Llewellyn Like you, I teach history alongside geography because the two are inseparable—every historical, social, and economic event has been shaped by geography. For example, when I teach ancient civilizations, I always incorporate maps into my presentations, student projects, and also in tests and quizzes.

    There were three threads that contain several resources to incorporate geography. This one led by Rachel Hansen ; this one was started by Tyrone Shaw and this one was led by Hajra Saeed
