Adaptation, Modification, Differentiation oh my.

Rachel mentioned that we are nearing the end of the school year, but this topic is always relevant. I am glad to have attended the OER workshop last Wednesday. I have been thinking about one of her points: the idea that each section may need modification. I have five sections of World History and I make minor adjustments, but if I'm being honest, I try to keep them alike. This helps me stay organized and prevents me from losing my place. I am curious how others are thinking about this. Does the education system allow us to do this? My time at school is very squeezed, and I am not always able to make these changes on the spot.

My father was a farmer and he did not treat individual plants, but he did treat fields. However, farmers today, or at least very soon, will have technology to focus on plants at an atomic level, adjusting nitrogen levels, water, or whatever else is needed. Is there a manageable protocol that teachers can use to identify and respond to these needs?

I find that some classes work slower or faster than others. I try to have extension activities built in for the faster classes, usually in the form of warmup activities with primary sources or think-pair-share skill-builders.

For sure.  And I am realizing that i may adjust for each section more than I originally realized.
