Book Recommendation for History Award

Laura Massa
Laura Massa 9 months ago

Hello community! I’m selecting a book for a senior who will be receiving our History Department Book Award this year, and I’d love your input. This student has a strong interest in both history and women’s studies, so I’m looking for something engaging and intellectually rich—perhaps a powerful biography, a social history, or a compelling narrative that highlights women’s voices or gender in historical context.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Adam Esrig Gwen Duralek Anne Koschmider Ebony McKiver

I, too, loved The Women by Kristin Hannah. Fabulously engaging narrative about women and their role during the Vietnam conflict.

I've enjoyed reading The Dark Queens by Shelley Puhak, which looks at female leaders of Europe that were essentially written out of history. The Remedial Herstory Project interviewed the author in one of their early podcasts if you want to preview the book's premise. (And for the history teachers, there's some great lessons that have been developed on their site)

Honestly, Laura Massa , I'm adding so many titles from this to my TBR list...looking forward to the summer of reading. :)
