Angelina Meadows I listened to the first episode of the Unknowns podcast, featuring an interview by Dr. David Christian with astrophysicist Dr. Ursula De Marco. It was fascinating to learn about the Big Bang, multiverses—including the possibility that some universes may have had only a brief existence or none at all—the mysteries of dark energy, the differences between quantum physics and the general theory of relativity, and an introduction to string theory.

Don’t be intimidated by these complex terms or assume you won’t understand. The conversation helped clarify several concepts I cover when teaching Big History. Although the podcast is designed for educators rather than students, it’s an excellent resource for refreshing or learning foundational ideas. Since this is the very first topic in the Big History course, it’s a perfect way to prepare and find new ways to spark student curiosity about the origin of our cosmos.
