What a great conversation between Neil Halloran and Tamara Shreiner! Now we want to hear from you.
What are you excited to try to build students' data literacy?
What are some classroom moves to build data literacy that work for you?
What do you see as the value of data storytelling in social studies?

Megan Suits I am planning to incorporate even more data analysis and build students' data literacy in my classes. I teach AP Human Geography where charts, stats, infographics, cartograms, and maps are crucial. I see the benefit of this skill particularly because they are not trained to interprete these tools. Anne Koschmider do you have a sample of lesson plan where you used the See-Think-Wonder approach?

Great question, Laura! I recently used the see-think-wonder strategy when introducing Mao Zedong’s rule in China. I presented students with a couple of different graphs pertaining to population and the Great Leap Forward. Is this something you do with your AP Geography students?

Anne Koschmider data analysis is one of the skils in AP Human Geography. Next year I will teach a new course on Global Events in the News so to give context to the course, I am planning to incorporate training in this skill. Would you mind sharing an example of the modality you mentioned (See-Think-Wonder)?
