Big things are happening on small screens

Our research has shown that a whole lot of teachers are looking to YouTube for instructional materials. In an effort to meet teachers where they’re at, we’re beefing up and improving our video offerings.

If you’ve spent any time on OER Project’s YouTube channel, you might have noticed that we’ve been dropping some new videos. And there’s more to come! This year, we’re releasing around 30 new videos on YouTube, created in partnership with partners like Complexly (the folks behind Crash Course), Neil Halloran (The Fallen of World War II), and DeBunked. All videos are fully animated and designed to help hook students and meet key state standards—often in unexpected ways.

The results have been a lot of fun! We’ve got new videos on the Black Death, the Scientific Revolution, 9/11, the Meiji Restoration, the assassination of Franz Ferdinand, plus tons more, including upcoming videos on the unsung animal heroes of the Cold War, William the Conqueror, the Viking Age, and the Real King Arthur!

All these new videos are also being integrated into our Big History, World History, and Climate courses, alongside some very fun accompanying activities and lessons. Ever wanted to give plague a piece of your mind? This is your chance, with our “Dear Black Death, You’re the Worst” activity. Maybe your students want to be a PR agent for some ruthless Viking raiders? We’ve got you covered.

Keep your eye on our YouTube channel all throughout this year for new releases!
