Just used the Economic Systems Simulation and it went well. I was able to pick up cheap holiday Kisses as Valentine kisses are now on the shelves! After the activity, the students Close Read the Rise of the Proletariat My measure of success was the Warm up for today. Excellent answers and much better than last year!

How did you determine what number of kisses made up the lower, middle and upper ranges that would be the "social classes."
I am thinking:
1-3 Kisses - Lower
4-6 Kisses - Middle
7+ Kisses- Upper
I am interested to know how you implemented this.

Hi Emma Auer Great question! I have classes of 34 students. In the first round I gave every student 1 kiss, and then 4 students got 7 total. I stopped play after about 4 minutes. I used the rating you did. I had 22 lower, 7 middle and 5 upper after the first round. I then went around stating "government redistribution of resources," and took kisses from the middle and upper and redistributed factors of production so that all students had 2 kisses at the start of round 2. Student (that chose to) played about 2 minutes. At the end of round 2 I had a few more middle class but NO Upper. (data was very close across three class periods) Hope that helped!
