Which of the SPICE-T themes (Social, Political, Interactions with Environment, Cultural, Economic, Technology) do your students struggle with the most, and how do you help them better engage with and analyze those themes?

When reviewing my instructional report from the latest APWH ex, my students struggled with economics. This is one that seems straight forward, so I’m looking to see how others approach these themes.

It seems like differentiating between the cultural and social themes can often be a challenge for students. I saw that some of the new activities connect to the course themes, so I will definitely be trying those out!

Yes! My students used to struggle with the differentiation between those two. I finally explained it as social is people and culture is what those people do.

I have the same issues, but partly I think it's my own weakness in teaching economic topics and utilizing that theme more broadly beyond trade, and maybe taxation.
