Are you taking any P.D. during the summer?

I just returned from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where I had the opportunity to attend the CLACS Summer Teacher Institute. The theme of the seminar was Contemporary Religious Life in Latin America and the Caribbean. We spent three full days with different professors and reseachers who covered a wide variety of cultural practices, social movements, belief systems, and artistic expressions from across Latin America and the Caribbean in the 21st century. We even visited the Milwaukee art museum to explore a collection of Haitian art.

I highly recommend this seminar. There were three days full of stimulating discussions and topics to learn and bring into the classroom. Is anybody planning something similar? Anne Koschmider  Christopher Barber  Bryan Dibble

I haven't done any formal PD this summer -- but I did read a lot! The Silk Roads, 1619 Project, and the Broken Spears. This will be my first time teaching APUSH, and I'm trying to see what crossovers there are between APUSH and APMWH.

Laura Massa My old stomping grounds of Wisconsin!  I did not attend any formal PD events like that, but have Zoomed into countless social studies and language arts webinars in preparation for the new year.  I have some long-term PD events coming in the near future with DIG and Facing History.  The process never stops... Slight smile
