Mansa Musa Contextualization Help

Where do you direct students to source other historical events to complete the contextualization activity?  I am finishing this activity tomorrow, and while I know some of the information can be found in the resources from this lesson, I want to be able to point them to other locations to find information.  Do you use specific websites or online timelines?

Megan Suits I found the Crash Course video on Mansa Musa to be incoherent. If I had to do it again, I would skip it and just use these two sources: National Geographic and Britanica.

    National Geographic Mansa Musa

    Britannica Mansa Musa

I also found the Contextualization tool to be overly complicated for students. I would like to use a simpler one; when I was teaching AP, there was a simpler one in one of the AP Classroom videos.

Does anyone have a simpler tool?

Scott Marsden I'd be interested in a simpler contextualization tool.  My students have little tolerance for anything that seems like busy work.

    Hi Scott,

I have used the SHEG version of primary sources about whether or Mansa Musa was the richest person ever.  The documents there are typically adapted, and there is a Spanish version of the activity as well.

Thank you Daniel. The SHEG version is actually a great lesson
