I recently listened to the audiobook version of Femina: A New History of the Middle Ages, Through the Women Written Out of It by Janina Ramirez and I really enjoyed it. My intention was to use it toward my AP European History class since it focuses on Medieval European women but the author emphasizes the worldliness of these European women so it made me think a lot about the questioning of the Dark Ages label in WHP. I also really appreciated the author's discussion of historiography at the beginning and end of the book because she gets at the idea of narratives and it made me think of the danger of a single story.
I haven't decided exactly how I'll use it yet but it gave me a lot to think about! I was able to listen to it courtesy of the Hoopla app--you just have to give your library card info and you get instant access to ebooks, audiobooks, TV, movie, and music without having to wait for a copy to come available.
