One-Pagers on Decolonization and Other Historical Topics

Those are awesome!  I would call that an infographic. I think we’ve had some good discussions on simple directions for stuff like this. I’ll see if I can find some.

Awesome example and great idea Amber Llewellyn ! How long would you give to complete this? I can see this being a good group (or individual project) that would take 2 class periods (40 mins) or a few nights as a homework assignment?

This is such a beautiful example! Was this made on Canva? I always assign these by hand but I bet they could work a lot quicker if I allow digital representations. 

That one was the example I generated on ChatGPT for my kids to see what I wanted. They are doing them by hand.  

It's a really great one!  I have some Space Race one-pagers hanging up in my room right now, but they are a bit more like comics (since I use the graphic bios in every unit, I try to give the kids opportunities to mimic that style).

In my US History classes though, they are more "one-pager-ish". These were from the social movements of the 1960s.  It's a fun way to cover a handful of simultaneous events and let kids find trends.

Which World History units/topics do you think would work best for something like this?

I have been thinking of using it as a review activity that I could use for various units as a way to review what they learned. So one for Imperialism, World War II, etc. 

Julianne Horowitz In my Big History class I am planning to use it next year for the unit on Expansion & Interconnection so students can choose one explorer and create a One-Pager.

These are so great! I loved doing a one pager assignment for my students this year. 

I did a similar assignment for AP World on Cold War topics.  They could use Canva or Google Slides/Drawings, and then I had posted them up for a gallery tour to look for patterns. See samples below.  They had to include historical context for the event, specific information regarding their event that made connections to other events on the list, and then an analysis of the outcome/impact on the Cold War.
