Returning to World History after a Hiatus.

I am returning to the OER project after a 2 year hiatus.  I previously taught Big History for 3 years and loved it.  My district chose to drop BHP altogether.  This year, I have been assigned Modern World History, a class I have not taught in over 10 years.  The textbook my district now uses is significantly different than the previous one.  I always liked the Big History format, and supplied materials.  I am hoping to incorporate the OER World History curriculum into my lesson plans this year.  Would it be more effective to merge the two curriculum guides into one,  or should I go with OER and use my district's text (McGraw Hill ConnectED) as a supplement (or vice versa)?

Hi Brad Rudy , glad to see you back here! Speaking from experience and as your idea suggests, I don't think there's a "wrong way" to do this. I used OER World History as my "primary" curriculum but then supplemented with other resources that my department used. I could often plan out my units with multiple curriculums in mind. Is this kind of what you're thinking about? Mike Weisensel can probably get you some support, too!

One of my concerns is regarding traditional unit quizzes/tests.  Does the OER curriculum include such assesments?

As for the implementation of the OER curruculum, I am going to jump in and ask for forgiveness later rather than permission ahead of time.
