Combining lessons- Business of Empire and the Plantation system Gallery Walk

I have to admit, I've been struggling with unit three in the updated 1200 course. It seems like the second half is mostly article work, which gets tough for students.

This week, I tried melding 2 and 1/2 lessons into one gallery walk with an accompanying causal map. Rather than reading about plantations, then watching a video on silver, then reading an article on new economic systems, then reading another on the EIC, I've got it into three stations with some key vocab, key ideas, as well as a fill in the blank and a causal map--how do all these systems enable and reinforce each other? I thought the connections were the key part of these lessons, and this compresses several days worth into a day or two.

I thought I would leave this here, in case anyone else was looking at melding ideas. It's a bit rough as I've only tried it once, but it seemed to go pretty well. If anyone wants to remix or let me know how it goes for them, I am up for feedback.

Haden Griggs Hi, Haden!  It looks like viewers might not have access to the source you shared, but this sounds like a fantastic plan to me!  I teach in an online high school setting, so I do the same with modifying these ready-made lessons to fit my circumstances.  I always struggle for time, so combining some of these key concepts while having students engage with the Thinking Like a Historian skills would definitely work on my end!

Thank you for the heads up! I guess my district limited sharing outside of district. I attached them again as doc/ppt so they should hopefully be accessible. The engagement and understanding seemed high, including the recall today, which is something we sometimes struggle with in that class!
