The Hits-That gives me an idea.

I really enjoy seeing with resources teachers were using in this email I receive from OER-Teachers voted. Here’s what topped the charts.  It got me thinking.  Which new resource did you try this year that is a keeper?  What is a resource you have bumped or replaced and why?  Which article packs the most punch?  I am not sure I have answers to all of these but this was the second year I did the Crusades video and it really fits well with my standard.  However, I still show the Khan Academy video which has none of the visual pizzazz but the content related to impacts is spot on.  

So what are your biggest hits?

  • I have used the Histeros Cave activity for a few years.  I had a new idea for the 2nd semester to spice it up a bit.  My school is connected to the local college and our leadership is always pushing for us to invite the professors to speak.  I have had visitors in for the typical the "tell us about your profession" type lessons before.  I was thinking this year that I would invite all of the disciplines I could entice to visit my room on the same day.  Instead of having the visitors talk to my students about their professions, I would have them work with students and explain how their discipline (anthro, sociology, historian, etc) would view the artifacts from the cave and then have the students share the information.
