Does anyone give out a final exam for the Origins or 1200 World History courses? Or how do you assess student's cumulative knowledge of the course?

Hi Thomas Ryan ! I teach the 1200 course. At the end of the semester, I give students a DBQ. This is a nice way to measure the growth of their skills over the term. We actually write that before the exam period. On exam day, students have a cumulative, multiple choice assessment. It’s mainly stimulus-based, with lots of maps, graphs, primary source excerpts, etc.
What are you thinking of doing to assess your students’ knowledge?
Thanks for sharing Anne! My school requires that I give a cumulative final exam. And I am teaching 90minute block periods, so my World History course is only 1 semester, which means the final is next week! Because of that, I'm leaning towards a multiple choice/short answer type of exam so I'm not too bogged down in grading going into next semester. I like the idea of a DBQ before the exam as well.
Do you have any exam materials you could share with me?
The New York Regents exam has stimulus-based multiple choice questions that can be a helpful starting point. There are released exams here and assessments built into the New Visions curriculum.
