Looking at the "Who's an Authority?" opener in Unit 2 of World History Project 1200. Wondering if anyone has done this with resources that students can easily connect to/ engage with?

Hi Josh Carriss, I like to use the Five Second Rule to introduce claim testing. For intuition, do a quick poll - who would eat food dropped on the floor for fewer than five seconds? For logic, ask students to evaluate their reasoning. Does it make sense to think there would be more germs at the six second mark than the four second mark? For authority, ask them who they learned the rule from. If they respond that it's common knowledge, discuss whether that constitutes authority.
