This year marks the 25 anniversary of 9/11, an important date not only in American history but for humanity. The attacks brought immediate and drastic changes to American daily live, national security, and civil liberties. What resources help students understand this event? Retroreport has a great documentary but my go to is the 9/11 Memorial & Museum's annual digital educational film, featured in their on-demand digital learning program for schools, icalled the Anniversary Digital Learning Experience Film .

Like Eric mentioned, Retro Report has some useful materials for teaching about 9/11. I've used their 9/11: Heroes video and lesson materials for the past couple of years. I saw that they just dropped a new video and resources called, "Chaos and Escape: How Day Care Teachers Saved Dozens of Children on 9/11."
FYI - the videos are publicly available but you do have to log in (it's free!) to access the lesson materials.

Becca Horowitz This lesson and video are such a great addition to what I am planning to use during that week. I especially like the overarching view of terrorism, as it provides a framework that will help my students gain a new perspective. And, of course, I really appreciate the ad hoc activities as well. When I clicked into the lesson, the activity for the Rwandan genocide caught my eye too. Do you know if there is a master list of new videos/activities? Or is it best to just browse the courses?

We are rolling out contextualization this week with intro activities followed by Contextualizing Mansa Musa.
To tie the 9/11 anniversary into the skill of contextualization, I made a drag and drop slide for students to practice sorting event cards into broad and narrow context.
