25 Years Later: How Do We Teach 9/11? What Should Students Know?

Laura Massa
Laura Massa 2 months ago

This year marks the 25 anniversary of 9/11, an important date not only in American history but for humanity. The attacks brought immediate and drastic changes to American daily live, national security, and civil liberties. What resources help students understand this event? What resources are you planning to use to help students understand 9/11? How are you planning to approach this anniversary in your classroom? And will the OER Project offer any resources or lessons to help teachers address this important milestone? Carrie Emerson-Coyle Mehreen Jamal Eric Schulz

We are rolling out contextualization this week with intro activities followed by Contextualizing Mansa Musa.

To tie the 9/11 anniversary into the skill of contextualization, I made a drag and drop slide for students to practice sorting event cards into broad and narrow context.
