    To help my students master claim testing, I implemented an interactive activity centered around the prompt: “The French Revolution was inevitable. Yes or no? Use specific examples from your notes as evidence.” Students were given 10 minutes to respond to the prompt in a short paragraph. I modeled an example using a main cause of the French Revolution. After completing their responses in CEA format (Claim, Evidence, Analysis), students exchanged their paragraphs with a peer at their table for feedback.
    During the peer review process, students circled the claim, boxed the evidence, and underlined the analysis in their peer’s work. This process helped highlight unclear writing, making it evident when revisions were needed. I emphasized to the students how unclear writing might confuse others and tied this feedback to improving their argument skills. Once peer review was complete, students turned in both their original and reviewed responses for my feedback.
    This activity allowed students to practice structured writing using the CEA format, which helped showcase the clarity in their writing. It also gave me insight into their current skill levels, allowing me to target areas that need improvement.
