Online Formative Assessments - Kim Kutz Elliot and Leah Marquez

How can we assess social studies thinking skills, in particular when we are teaching students at a distance? Khan Academy’s strategy is to create formative assessments that are learning experiences for students. Well-formulated questions that use distractors and accompanying rationales can help dispel misconceptions about the content and reinforce important terms and skills. Teachers can then learn if their students are mastering both the historical content and using the appropriate historical thinking skills.
