Session recorded: 3/15/2022
In this interactive workshop, presented in association with our friends at The Blues and Beyond, we dig into the profound connections between African-American music and history, and the underexamined story of the Gullah-Geechee people of the American southeast. Session leaders Eric Finland and Adam Taylor of The Blues and Beyond will demonstrate how to grab and hold students' attention with music, narration, video and photographs. Participants will garner a better understanding of where the music comes from, and the history behind it. Teachers will leave the session with new techniques that bring the sounds of history to life for their students.
