How can we better connect our students with individuals, groups, and events from times and places that may feel distant? Primary sources! The thoughtful exploration of primary sources in world history instruction can be an inquiry-rich approach that supports student engagement and critical analysis. During this session, educators will unpack OER Project’s approach to using primary sources and have the opportunity to practice using some of the strategies needed to jump-start or enhance student mastery of upcoming units of study.

About the New Jersey Professional Development Series
New Jersey education leaders and OER Project believe that teachers are the key to providing students with the skills and knowledge necessary to lead our country into the future. In that spirit, we are collaborating to provide a series of workshops for teachers looking to add a few new tools to their toolbox. Developing students’ skills in any social studies classroom is imperative for understanding the content. These sessions will dive deep into a particular skill and leave you with ideas and tools that can be implemented immediately in your classroom. OER Project team members will work with our state partners to design each session with your needs in mind.
