  • I've taught my kids to ""evlauate" sources, to discern whether they're "reliable" or "credible." One of the panelists used a much more accessible and salient term:  "Can I trust this?" That makes it a personal question for kids and one they immediately understand. Trust is something that matters to them.

  • I find that my students tend to oversimplify the idea of reliability. I have to model how to ground their evaluation in the skills of contextualization and corroboration. They tend to revert to a document being biased and stop their thinking there. Have you experienced any issues like that?
